Les taxis de la Marne

On 6 and 7 September 1914, during the first battle of the Marne, 600 Parisian taxis requisitioned by order of General Gallieni gathered at Les Invalides. The objective of this unprecedented military manoeuvre was to quickly send the 4,000 men of an infantry brigade as reinforcements.
